Barefoot Benefit

Have you ever been kicked off a golf course while enjoying a nice run?
 I know I have.

What would you say if I told you a group of UT students have put together a charitable event that allows you to spend an afternoon running in the grass?
Well ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to the Barefoot Benefit 5k. On a nice cool afternoon in October you can find men and woman of all ages basking in the sun.

The purpose behind the Barefoot Benefit is to provide you runners with a place to run barefoot and compete with others who are doing the same.
There is a new era or movement in the running community concerning barefoot and minimalist shoe running. Science has proven that runners can better prevent injuries by staying up on the front of their feet instead of slamming their heal back into the ground. Minimalist shoes allow you to run on the front of your foot.
We want to provide a healthy place for you to try out this new healthy style of running.
Start training now in your local park because barefoot running can take some getting used to. The race will be held on Sunday October, 23rd at Lambert Acres golf course.

Check it out on facebook at www.facebook.com/barefootbenefit
