The Boulevard

The Boulevard is to Knoxville as Rodeo is to Los Angeles, Broadway is to New York, and Michigan Ave. is to Chicago.
It is a road that serves a greater purpose then providing means to transportation. The Boulevard is part of Knoxville’s identity.
To a runner in Knoxville, it is even more then that. The beautiful dogwoods and rolling hills are only part of what makes the boulevard such an incredible place to run. Cherokee Boulevard has a great running path that is located along the road winding through parks right along the river. From end to end, the Boulevard is a little over 2 and ½ miles. This makes for a great 5 mile loop.  The course is flat at first while winding adjacent to Sequoyah Park. The path then gets a bit more difficult as you approach a stretch of rolling hills. I would say that the 5 mile loop is difficult run for beginners, while being moderate for experienced runners. The boulevard is my personal favorite place to run in Knoxville and I would give it an 8 out of 10 on the K-Run scale.

To find Cherokee blvd. head west on kingston from the downtown area. Take a left at the 2nd light after Alcoa highway.
